April 2026 Newsletter: Introducing Primary Care at Dar a Luz

Coming on May 4th: Primary Care Services

We are excited to introduce our newest provider! Our very own Krystal Davis
(many of you know her as one of our nurses) is now a certified nurse
practitioner (see her bio below)! With Krystal on board, we will now be offering
primary care services to teens and women outside of the gynecologic care
that we already provide. These services will include (but not limited to)
preventive screenings for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and high
cholesterol, referrals for other specialty screenings such as colonoscopy and
osteoporosis, as well as chronic disease management with referral to
specialists as needed. We are excited to provide primary care services to our
community.

Patient-centered care is at the heart of everything we do. We believe
healthcare should be built around your goals, preferences, and unique health
needs. Our care team will continue to take the time to listen, and answer
questions to support you and your overall well-being. Our priority is to ensure
that you are involved in every healthcare decision. By combining
compassionate communication with personalized care plans and coordinated
services, we strive to make your experience respectful and empowering. Here,
you’re not just a patient—you’re an active participant in your health journey.

If you are interested in our primary care services, please email Tracy at the link
below and she will contact you when we are ready to start scheduling, likely in
mid- to late May!

(please do not call/text regarding Primary Care Services at this time)

Currently, we are only offering care for teens and women (people assigned
female at birth) starting at the age of 12. We are hoping to add
gender-affirming care in the near future!

We are planning to have same day appointments for urgent issues
(established patients only) although not guaranteed.

Our very own registered nurse, Krystal, is now a Family Nurse Practitioner leading our Primary Care team!

I was raised in northern Arizona, in one of the places it snows.
After completing nursing school my husband and I decided to make a pit stop
in Albuquerque, that was 10 years ago.

I had no interest in working in women’s health after nursing school and it
wasn’t until I had my first child at Dar A Luz that I started to understand the
type of care I could give. I then worked in mother baby and labor & delivery
before making my way back to DAL as a nurse. Since then, I continue to be
moved by the care that is given here and wanted to be part of it in a different
role. I am excited to have the opportunity to learn and grow from amazing
midwives as well as provide care in a space that values putting each person at
the center of their health.

When not at DAL I’m usually doing embroidery, spending time outside, playing
board games with family and friends or letting my boys teach me to play Pokemon.
I’m also passionate about educating people that there are no saguaros in
New Mexico.

Newborns Head to Toe

In this class you will learn how to figure out what your baby needs and
understand their communication cues. Learn about normal newborn behavior
and appearances and what to do if something doesn’t seem right. We will
focus on the basics like diapering, holding, swaddling (bring your own blanket
if you have one), and burping and much more! This class is 4 hours long with
a 30 minute lunch break.

Women of a Certain rAGE:
Perimenopause and Beyond Support Group

Dar a Luz is proud to announce a new support group for those who identify as
perimenopausal or menopausal women/people. Our first group will be in
person at Dar a Luz on Sunday April 19th from 4-6pm. We will gauge how we
move forward with dates and times based on attendance. At least one Dar a
Luz staff member will be moderating the group. Our hope is to offer this
group in person at least monthly. And we hope to have speakers and other
educational offerings. Mostly, we want to create a safe space for those of us in
midlife to meet and discuss life the challenges we face as well as the liberation
of this time in our lives.

Snacks always provided. Donation requested but not required to attend.
Please consider bringing a friend or two as well!

On March 24th (our 15th birthday!), we initiated the fundraising for a $15,000
challenge grant awarded by the Anderson Charitable Foundation. So far,
we have raised $2,418 (16%) towards the $15,000 goal.
During this time of transition, while we have been expanding and diversifying
our services, we are still in need of donation and grant support from our
community partners. We understand that this economy is hard for many
people and families and we appreciate every single donation. Remember
every dollar gets us closer to doubling the impact with this challenge grant.

You can now donate via PayPal directly through our donor platform,
Network for Good by clicking the button below.

We thank you for your support!
