Historically, despite women reporting significant anxiety about and/or pain related to cervical and uterine procedures, their experiences were minimized and they were not offered pain medication before, during or after such procedures. At Dar a Luz, we honor each individual’s current and past experience of invasive procedures. We value bodily autonomy by offering pain management options in preparation for and during pelvic exams, insertion of birth control, biopsies, etc. Pain management options can include prescription medication sent ahead of time, over-the-counter medication available in house, nitrous oxide (out-of-pocket cost), and IV pain medications.
