INSPIRED & INTENTIONAL BIRTH SERIES

Meets six Sunday afternoons, for 2.5 hours each time. Taught by childbirth education expert Amity McElroy. Read about Amity on our staff page.  We strongly recommend taking these classes week 28 or later.

Partners welcome and encouraged! Amity teaches a fun and interesting class that not only covers the basics, but brings together movement, activities, birth art, videos, discussions, a birth blessing, use of a rebozo (a Mexican shawl to help with comfort and movement) … and a special class all about the postpartum season! Even belly dancing! Get in touch with Amity if you have questions.

Cost of class is $300 for each mom/birthing person or couple, pay by credit card at sign-up.

SPINNING BABIES BIRTH PREPARATION CLASS

Take your understanding of childbirth to the next level in this class designed for expectant parents with a curriculum that comes straight from the wisdom of Spinning Babies ®. Take this special class in addition to a birthing class that goes over the basics of labor and what to expect in labor. This class aims to provide practical tools and confidence to help you feel more prepared and informed about the birthing process.

The Spinning Babies Birth Preparation Class in ABQ focuses on techniques and exercises to help expectant parents optimize the baby’s position in the womb for a smoother labor and delivery. Discover how to bring practical solutions into your labor to help it progress smoothly, whether or not you’re planning to use pain medications.

Lots of benefits for babies and caregivers: increased bonding, and relief from many complaints and stresses. Babies of any age are welcome, but babies who are at least 6 weeks old tolerate a longer massage. Older babies and toddlers welcome too!

Bring oil/lotion to use on the baby. Amity recommends organic cold pressed oils such as coconut, almond, grape seed, or apricot kernel.

This is a clinic held once a month by Amity, who is a certified car seat safety instructor. You will learn which car seat is right for your baby and how to install it. You can attend before or after your baby is born, but we recommend doing it before, to ensure that your car is ready to drive your baby home.

PELVIC FLOOR: CHANGES DURING PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM RECOVERY

Join Nora J Quintal Calva and Erin Longhurst Cook-the wonderful pelvic floor physical therapists we refer to at Method Physical Therapy, to learn all about your pelvic floor health, during and after pregnancy.
